Metalis are working with a respectable and reputable CNC machine shop in Sheffield who are looking for a skilled CNC Setter/operator to join their team on a full time permanent basis.


Working in a busy team operating CNC machines helping the company meet production requirements. Working within the production team and reporting to the workshop team leader you will support the team leaders and Engineering Production Manager in achieving financial targets of the business whilst working within the constraints of ethical trading and good engineering practice.


Hours: 37 per week, Monday - Friday (1p.m. finish on Fridays).

The Role:

  • To set & operate Multi Axis CNC Turning / Millturn machines efficiently in line with the production plan, producing precision components to drawing and to customer specification.
  • To have a positive and flexible approach to working; all within the constraints of ethical trading & good engineering practice.
  • To constantly challenge the norm to help drive forward continual improvements in products, processes and cost control.
  • To produce a high quality product by setting and operating CNC turning machines ensuring quality workmanship at all times.
  • To maintain and improve productivity, work in line with company procedures and machine capability to ensure production deadlines are met.
  • Maintain set-up sheets as required and in line with company procedure.
  • Ensure work area is kept clean and tidy at all times by keeping machine and all associated tools and equipment in a clean and tidy manner.
  • Work within a safe environment by ensuring all company procedures and Health & Safety legislation is followed at all times.

Required Skills

  • Previous experience of using Fanuc controls essential.
  • The ability to modify programs & set machines will also be advantageous.
  • Ability to be able to read, understand and edit programs relating to technical drawings.
  • To be quality focused.
  • To be motivated with a "can do" attitude.
  • Ability to set and operate more than one machine when required.
