Fitting Team Lead.
Set up in 1986 by two engineering graduates, Metalis are working with an innovative, industry leader in the metal cutting industry. They design and manufacture machines, and complement these with software solutions for their customers. A team of 60 people across sales, service, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and finance.
The opportunity has arisen to join their fitting team manufacturing their industry leading Plasma and Laser cutting machines. You will work within the fitting team in the manufacturing and also as a team leader providing support and supervision to your team members. Ensuring you are in close communication with the Production and Operations Managers working to production timeframes and deadlines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and work with the fitting team to design plans within time targets for the delivery of the plasma and laser machines.
- Work in conjunction with the Production Manager and Operations Manager to schedule, prioritise and plan the production fitting workload and ensure this information is communicated clearly and monitored with the fitting team.
- Act as the first point of contact to resolve technical issues escalated from the fitting team.
- Actively participate in daily operations reviews, reporting on build progress and related issues
- Track emails and communicate via emails business wide where required.
- Monitoring and entering data from the fitting team time sheets.
- Monitoring the fitting team's performance against target build times and initiate action where required.
- Organise and manage holidays and overtime within the team to ensure smooth running of the business operations.
- Work constructively with other Team Leaders (and all other personnel) in a positive and supportive way to ensure smooth and efficient running of business operations.
- Support and act as the Lead for Lean Manufacturing and 5S activities and any other business/organisational development activities within the Fitting Bay area and other areas that may affect the operation of the Fitting Section.
- Work with Engineering staff to act as a constructive focal point for the development of products and processes including Supplier discussions as/if required.
- The fitting team leader will be one of the factory keyholders; including Alarm Setting
- Provide additional support and to work flexibly when and where necessary to ensure the effective and efficient running of all business operations.
