Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
Nottinghamshire
£45,000 - £50,000 per annum Circa (Flexibility for the right person)
Full Time and Permanent Position

Our client are a modern and global engineering & manufacturing company who require a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to oversee their manufacturing facilities. The sites manufacturing cell's consist of modern CNC machining departments, fitting and assembly cells, welding & fabrications, powder coating, paint spraying, inspection & NDT and more.

Role Purpose:

Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by planning and overseeing the development and implementation of policies, processes and safe working procedures throughout the sites to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance across all manufacturing sites to Company, Corporate, legal and environmental responsibilities.
  • Prepare health, safety and environmental strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Validate program and process implementation at all levels within business.
  • Preparing health, safety and environmental strategies and developing internal policy and procedures to ensure continuous improvement (ISO14001)
  • Assist in the development and review of safety and health programs.
  • Identify new health and safety programs needs or changes to existing programs.
  • Management and development of Health & Safety Advisors
  • Audit performance and compliance with policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Carrying out risk assessments and communicating findings and ensure actions are closed within allocated timeframe.
  • Drive managers and supervisors to take ownership of health and safety policies and processes.
  • Advise and represent Company during regulatory actions.
  • Liaise with external agencies e.g. HSE, EA, BSI etc.
  • Attend operations meetings and line walks to review health and safety concerns and issues.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented (audit process for safety and environmental)
  • Leading / aiding in-house training with managers and employees about health, safety and environmental issues and risks.
  • Developing new training presentations and toolbox talks.
  • Maintaining records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements.
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation (safety and environmental) and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
  • Attend Senior Management meetings when required to demonstrate progress made within the department.
  • Direct incident investigation activities including the identification of root cause and corrective action.
  • Develop communication of lessons-learned to share incident across business.

The job holder may be requested from time to time to carry out other duties within his capabilities to assist the company in attaining overall targets.

  • Ability to achieve results even when under pressure.
  • Excellent PC skills; high level proficiency in Microsoft Office including; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have a degree Health and Safety or similar technical discipline or equivalent.
