Maintenance Engineer - Weekend Nights



Purpose of the Role:

As a Maintenance Engineer working within our clients foundry maintenance department, you will be responsible for responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and repairing die casting machines. Your role includes providing maintenance services to production departments, office buildings, and other facilities. You will carry out installation work, perform routine maintenance repairs, and support production supervision to meet production demands by maintaining and repairing equipment as required.



Key Responsibilities:

  • In-House Services: Provide maintenance services to production departments, offices, and buildings.
  • Installation Work: Perform installation of new equipment and systems as needed.
  • Routine Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal functioning of machinery and equipment.
  • Production Support: Work on equipment as required to support production supervision and meet production demands.
  • Diagnose Malfunctions: Identify and diagnose issues with apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Machinery Recovery: Assist in the recovery of production machinery and complete maintenance tickets upon task completion.
  • Fault Diagnosis: Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss issues with other maintenance workers, including the Maintenance Manager and toolmaker, to diagnose faults.
  • Component Replacement: Diagnose and replace faulty electrical or electronic components such as relays, switches, and motors, as well as mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Requisition Supplies: Request tools, equipment, and new or replacement parts as needed.
  • Electrical Panel Access: Enter electrical panels to reset trips and resolve issues.
  • Efficiency Improvements: Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to improve team efficiency.
  • Problem Resolution: Analyse and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving them.
  • Inspection and Testing: Inspect and test machinery and equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Structural Repairs: Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment.
  • Automated Machinery: Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM): Participate in TPM initiatives to improve overall equipment effectiveness.


Qualifications and Experience Levels:

  • A City & Guilds qualified electrician, including knowledge of 17th Edition Regulations.
  • Proven working history in a similar environment, with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Strong background in engineering or mechanical work.
  • Experience working with CNC machinery.
  • Knowledge and experience with PLC programming.
  • Possession of a forklift licence is desirable.
  • Welding skills are desirable.

Salary & Hours:

  • 34 hours per week/Weekend Night Shift
  • Friday 8pm-6am, Saturday & Sunday 6pm-6am
  • Salary: £40,322pa
