Metalis Engineering Recruitment are currently working with a global and successful engineering company who require a Quality and Health & Safety Manager.

You will be providing practical advice on quality, health, safety and some environmental issues, You will ensure that the required standards are being met and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented across the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Take full accountability of H&S for a manufacturing site that consists of machining cells, dispatch, warehouse and more
  • Making necessary improvements/ changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Manage and maintain management systems
  • Systems used are ISO9001 - 2015, OHSAS 18001/ ISO 45001 & ISO 14001
  • Ensure that the Company complies with COSHH and REACH requirements
  • Act as the business expert in environmental legislative compliance.
  • Preparing health, safety and environmental strategies and developing internal policy and procedures to ensure continuous improvement (ISO14001).
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Leading/aiding in-house training with managers and employees about health, safety and environmental issues and risks.
  • Liaising with external agencies e.g. HSE, EA, BSI etc.
  • Make provisions for cross divisional audits and leading them when required.
  • Maintaining records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements.
  • Carrying out accident investigations within suitable timeframes.
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation (safety and environmental) and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that may come into play
  • Advising and organising the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. chemicals, paints, etc.
  • Updating excel documents and being involved with cost saving projects.
  • To undertake any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications, skills, attributes, experience required:

  • NEBOSH qualification essential.
  • ISO14001 qualification and experience
  • Additional HSE related/professional qualification desirable
  • PC literate.
  • Capable of delivering professional presentations to teach, coach and inform all levels of personnel in the business.
  • Ability to work with employees at all levels.
