Field Service Engineer (Mechanical/Hydraulic)

£35,000 to £38,000 pa plus overtime, dependent upon experience

Based in Wakefield, Metalis are working with one of Europe's largest original equipment manufacturers in its field with the ability to design, develop and manufacture bespoke machinery and complete turnkey solutions.

Due to continued growth, they now require an experienced mechanical engineer to join their service department to satisfy commitment to customers and to further strengthen the team.

Due to the demands of the business, there will be a requirement for regular travel including overnight stays throughout the UK and weekend work, where required, will be expected.

You will be travelling to customer sites across the UK and occasionally internationally and will be tasked with servicing and maintaining specialist industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment as well as the installation of new machines.

You will require enthusiasm, dedication and a commitment to team working to be successful in this post and will be working alongside like-minded individuals.

Due to the nature of our machinery and equipment the suitable candidate must have extensive experience in hydraulic engineering, with the ability to not only service hydraulic equipment but to fault find and diagnose hydraulic system faults. Experience working with hydraulic and mechanical presses would also be a distinct advantage.

This is a customer facing role so you will have good interpersonal skills combined with the ability to write detailed service reports.

As we are committed to employee development full training will be given where necessary to improve the service engineer's skillset.

The Role:

  • Monday - Friday, 37-hour standard week with overtime and weekend work when required
  • Undertaking mechanical fault finding, service and maintenance works on company equipment, the primary being hydraulic and mechanical presses
  • Requirement to work away at short notice with some weekend work
  • Taking part in installation and commissioning duties as required
  • Travelling to customer sites throughout the country
  • Working in line with any active permits / legislation
  • Customer facing

Requirements:

  • Fully apprentice trained mechanical engineer
  • Experience of hydraulic engineering essential for this position
  • The ability to read and interpret mechanical and hydraulic drawings essential
  • Previous experience in a field service position would be advantageous
  • Full UK Driver's license
