The liaison between customer,office and shop floor.

Proud to be representing a global name in their search for a Technical support/project engineer for their very exciting and interesting upcoming projects. Ideally from a hands on fitting/assembly background, we are looking for someone who has taken a step up into a more senior project role and wishes to continue on this pathway.

  • You will be involved in shop floor activity,planning and man management whilst also being the go to person for technical queries and customer liaison. Confident customer facing skills are a must in this position.
  • To provide technical support to the shop floor assembly and development teams associated with new and existing units, systems and test equipment.
  • This will also include client liaison for warranty, obsolescence, field support and supply chain interaction to support on-going build and test programs.
  • Ensure that assigned product introduction, upgrade & development activities are planned and executed to meet technical and programme requirements.
  • To co-ordinate workload and activities with the Lead Engineer and Project Manager to meet project requirements.
  • To work closely with the Engineering Development team on assigned activities.
  • As required and to suit the evolving project status and workload, assist the wider engineering team providing product development engineering support where necessary to other product lines.

Job Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out assigned product project work, planning and organising this to meet project requirements:
  • Technical liaison including meeting attendance, reporting, presentations with clients including for example MoD PDS, NSPA, Oman and for other assigned programmes & activities
  • Prepare/assess Strip and Warranty investigation reports and associated support
  • Support Business Sales & Commercial teams in the generation of bids and solutions
  • Derivation of transmission validation requirements and specifications
  • Approvals and concession sign off for transmission and HSU acceptance tests
  • Assist creation of test facility and equipment specifications and requirements
  • Interpretation and comprehension of Client requirements
  • Assist the Development Engineering team in the creation of product test procedures and methodologies
  • Carry out and/or support product development activities as assigned; supervise and/or support testing & trials at Client facilities, our UK facilities or other reasonably agreed location
  • Create field trial reports
  • Troubleshooting product and testing/trials issues
  • Work closely and in co-operation with other our teams
  • Help develop and improve our procedures applicable to team activities
  • Document creation and checking (specifications/reports)
  • Provide customer facing and supply chain support as required to resolve in service issues or to assist with development of new hardware

Job Requirements / Knowledge and Experience

  • In depth knowledge of product development activities
  • In depth knowledge and hands on experience as a development/test engineer
  • Practical experience of product hardware development
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in a data driven fashion
  • Skilled in reviewing and reporting on performance trials & tests data
  • Experience of test data capture methods and systems
  • Good written and verbal presentation skills
  • The following skills will also be of benefit, and it is preferred that candidates will possess at least some of them:
  • Knowledge of gearbox technologies. This to include associated technologies including sensors and instrumentation, lubrication, bearings, thermal response, noise and vibration.
  • Knowledge of defence platform requirements, ideally land vehicle sector related
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards (ISO, MIL, Def Stan for example)
  • Work planning skills and a task orientated approach
