Trainee Process Metallurgist

Monday to Friday, regular days.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced NDT Technician, working for a company that offer in-house and on-site testing services, for a range of industries ranging from Aerospace, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Medical and General Engineering Industries. The right candidate, will be joining a busy and expanding team at their site in Sheffield.

As a result of continued expansion & internal promotion, We are looking for a Trainee Process Metallurgist to join their successful business.

Job Description

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will be part of a team providing quality & technical support to sales department, carry out contract review of sales order, writing Manufacturing plans & quality/inspection plans for customers; liaising with Equipment Manufacturers & Oil majors and participation in Pre-Production meetings as well as participating in both supplier & customer site visits and audits.


Skills Required

Experience in the steel industry is not essential as full training will be provided. Candidates should be degree qualified in an engineering discipline, be numerate, computer literate, have excellent communication skills, and be able to work well with the other members of a busy team.

Starting Salary:

Between £23,000 and £25,000 per annum dependant on experience- With views for increases once more skilled

Brief Outline of Duties:

  • Carrying out inspection both on and off-site
  • Evaluate and report on test results
  • Maintain equipment and calibration systems.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will be PCN and SNT Level 2 qualified in ultrasonic inspection of forgings/wrought products, together with MPI/DPI inspection.
A minimum of 5 years industrial experience is required.
