Metalis is working in partnership with a well-established engineering company, who due to continuous growth are looking to hire a Controls Engineer. The role will be to maintain, trouble shoot, design, develop and implement control systems within the die cast and machining industry and to ensure that all sites are supported to ensure maximum uptime is achieved and that all controls issues are addressed as a single point of contact.

Job Role: Controls Engineer

Salary: £45k - £50k depending on experience

Hours: 38.75 hours per week / day shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and upgrade control systems across the Evtec group.
  • Make software changes as required.
  • Ensure backup software is routinely managed.
  • Support the maintenance as required to diagnose and fault find.
  • Identify control system obsolescence and plan upgrades as required.
  • Work alongside equipment OEM to ensure software in up to date and fault free.
  • Perform system and data analysis to evaluate performance and identify areas of improvement.
  • Prepare system and component-level specifications.
  • Develop system documentation and control manuals.
  • Provide technical support for system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Stay updated with latest controls engineering techniques and technologies.
  • Roll out PLC training to maintenance and others as first line support.
  • Ensure critical spares are in place and managed appropriately.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven work experience as a Controls Engineer or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of control theory, system dynamics and control systems
  • Proficiency in programming Siemens S7, ladder and electrical drawing interpretation
  • Hydraulics / pneumatic knowledge would be desirable
  • Familiarity HMI, SCADA and other control systems
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to document requirements and specifications.
  • BSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or relevant field
  • Electronic, CNC & Mechanical knowledge
  • Experience of PPM & TPM
  • Knowledge of H & S procedures
  • Minimum 5 years' experience
  • Project and time management
  • ABB robots programming
  • Available on call if required in emergency cases
  • Hands on and team player
