Job Role: Maintenance Manager
Location: Stockport
Shift: Days Only
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 Per Annum
This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and established business currently undergoing a programme of change based in the Stockport area. As a key member of the Management Team, you will report directly to the Operations Manager. The right candidate would ideally have time served mechanical bias and electrical experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.
Job Duties:
- Hands on aspects including implementing electronic PPM schedules and training
- Responsible for supporting and executing asset management strategies with particular focus on lean / continuous improvement.
- Operating and managing the current PPM system.
- Liaising closely with Manufacturing and Production Managers and other members of staff to keep production downtime to a minimum.
- Delivering ongoing improvements to the site.
- Creation of SOPS, Risk Assessments and toolbox talks as/when required.
- Management and measurement of own department training and development
- Management and negotiation of sub-contractors.
- Facilities & Energy Management.
- Issue of PTW and associated LOTO Systems in liaison with the QSHE Manager.
- Ensure planned and re-active maintenance is recorded and analysed to identify trends
- Ensure that all PPM schedules and works orders are completed within the agreed timeframes.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are reported and logged and that all consumables/spares are logged and re-ordered.
- Adhere to appropriate risk assessment, LOTO procedure and/or permit procedure.
- Ensure the effective and safe operation of all machinery and record all failures
- Support with site facilities management.
- Support ISO9001 and ISO14001 annual re-certification
- Creation of CAPEX proposals
- Budget management and accountability
Job Requirements:
- Experience of working with a diverse range of equipment to include rotating equipment, process heaters, process cooling systems, chemical reactors, mixing vessels and high-speed packaging lines.
- Great leader who will drive continuous improvement and work on own initiative.
- Awareness of PUWER, LOLER and PSSR regulations.
- Ability to create monthly reporting to senior management
- Full indentured apprenticeship or equivalent qualification accompanied with several years' experience within a production/manufacturing industry.
- Recognised qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering
- Ideally hold an IOSH qualification or have good knowledge of H&S and environmental legislation & obligations.
- A minimum of three years working as a Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor.
- Proven experience of managing a team of engineers including their development and appraisal.
- Ability to identify own Department staff training levels and capabilities for review and onwards development
- Ensure a safe working environment for all staff and ensure all Health, Safety and Environmental standards are adhered to, achieved and sustained.
- A thorough understanding of fully automated processing plant and equipment.
- Familiar with TPM tools (lean) and techniques and improving/upskilling the capability of the maintenance team and production staff.
- Experience of introducing and onward management of continuous improvement practice.
- An understanding and awareness of heating systems, cooling/water systems & legionella awareness.
- Commercially aware with a track record of delivering an effective engineering and maintenance function.
- Lead by example setting high standards with the ability to respond to short term problems but plan and execute a long-term strategy that resolves root cause issues.
- A thorough understanding of planned preventive maintenance and utilising a CMMS to effectively manage a diverse range of assets.
- Understand engineering risk and ensure that all assets are maintained to the highest level and all regulatory standards are adhered to.
