Metalis are currently supporting a leading Oldham-based sheet metal and profile manufacturing company. Due to expansion the company is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join their team in the role of Planner/Estimator.
This is a full-time permanent position and involves working closely with Internal Sales/Estimating to contribute to the cost estimation process in a large sheet metal manufacturing company.
Working hours are flexible, these can either be:
4 days per week - Monday - Thursday (7:45am - 6pm)
5 days per week - Mon - Friday (8am - 5pm Mon - Thurs & 8am - 1pm Friday)
Role Outlined:
The Planner/Estimator will support the Internal Sales/Estimating team. The ideal candidate will bring sheet metal experience, enthusiasm, and a commercially aware mindset.
This role involves interacting with customers, preparing quotations, recording findings, and negotiating costs.
Additionally, the Planner/Estimator will be responsible for planning detailed work instructions for the manufacture of sheet metal components.
Daily Duties:
- Communicate with customers to understand their requirements for quotations and new orders.
- Collate and send quotations to customers, ensuring accuracy and completeness in documentation.
- Record findings and negotiate costs as needed, maintaining a balance between customer satisfaction and company profitability.
- Plan detailed work instructions for the manufacture of painted sheet metal components, coordinating with relevant teams for seamless execution.
- Demonstrate a confident and commercially aware mindset, contributing to strategic decision-making in the estimation and planning process.
- Utilize excellent people skills to foster positive relationships with customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Leverage computer proficiency to use relevant software and tools for accurate estimation, planning, and documentation.
Person Specification:
- Prior experience in sheet metal manufacturing is advantageous.
- Enthusiastic and confident with a commercially aware mindset.
- Excellent people skills for effective communication and relationship-building.
- Proficient in computer usage, with the ability to adapt to relevant software and tools.
