Metalis are currently in partnership with a signage company who have been in business for over 40 years. They are looking for a detail orientated paint prepper to join their team due to growth within the company.

The Paint Prepper will be responsible for preparing surfaces and materials for painting, ensuring that our signage products achieve a flawless finish. This role is crucial to maintaining the high standards of quality and craftsmanship that our clients expecet.

Responsibilities-

  • Prepare various substrates and signage components for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming surfaces as needed to ensure optimal adhesion and finish quality.
  • Use masking tape, stencils, and other materials to protect designated areas from paint overspray, ensuring clean and precise paint application.
  • Handle and mix paints, primers, and coatings according to manufacturer specifications, ensuring proper ratios and consistency for optimal results.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment such as spray guns, brushes, and mixing tools to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
  • Inspect surfaces for imperfections, defects, or irregularities, addressing any issues promptly to ensure that finished products meet quality standards.
  • Assist in colour matching and mixing paints to achieve the desired colours and finishes specified for each signage project.
  • Work closely with designers, fabricators, and other team members to coordinate painting schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and the use of personal protective equipment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Paint Prepper or similar role, preferably in the signage industry or a related field.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, paint application methods, and materials used in signage production.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.
