A Day In The Life Of A Recruitment Operations Manager

  • Publish Date: Posted 8 months ago

What does your typical day involve as a Recruitment Operations Manager?

It is hard to pinpoint my typical day, I manage the overall operations of the business ensuring that the processes and working environment in the organisation are as good as they should be.

This can range from developing and delivering in house training, overseeing payroll, supporting the recruitment managers, business development, tracking profit and loss, supporting our Coventry branch, setting targets and objectives etc.

How has your role evolved since starting with Metalis?

I started off as a Recruitment Consultant when Metalis was first established. At one point there were only three of us in the business and now we are pushing on 30 people in four years!

My role naturally progressed as more and more people joined Metalis; Recruitment Consultant, Senior Consultant, Managing Consultant, Team Leader and Operations Manager.

I am grateful for the progression and development that Metalis has given me.

What attracted you to a career in recruitment?

Like a lot of people in the recruitment industry I kind of just ‘fell’ into it. I enjoy talking to people, building relationships and the fact that everyday is different, keeps me on my toes!

There’s a lot of development and earning potential in recruitment, you are always looking to better yourself whether that’s learning a new industry, a new job role to recruit for, or simply wanting to have a better month than the month before.

What challenges do you face in your role and how do you overcome them?

Any recruitment consultant you speak with will likely say the same thing, the biggest challenge in recruitment is people. People are our product and unfortunately no matter how hard you try you cannot predict people. This can be overcome through continuous learning, effective communication, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering value to both candidates and clients.

What advice would you give to anyone interested in starting a career in the recruitment industry?

If you are looking for a job role where no day is the same and you like to challenge yourself then recruitment is definitely for you!

We always tell people that recruitment is a roller-coaster there’s so many twists and turns, ups and downs, but it’s always rewarding in the end.
