Metalis are supporting a leading manufacturing company who specialise in manufacturing and are dedicated to delivering high-quality products to our clients. Their growing team is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join us and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the financial health of the business.
Job Overview:
As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. You will work closely with various departments to provide financial insight and support, helping the business make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage the company's financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP and relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial documents.
- Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and payroll.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing analysis of variances to actual performance.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure sufficient liquidity for ongoing operations.
- Handle VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC and other statutory requirements.
- Support the external audit process and liaise with auditors as required.
- Review and improve financial controls, processes, and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide financial insights and advice to management, helping to inform key business decisions.
- Collaborate with other departments to support cost control and operational efficiency efforts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Ideal but not essential)
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification (or working towards).
- Proven experience in accounting, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, VAT, and other relevant tax regulations.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Experience with costing and inventory management systems is desirable.

Pay & Hours:
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday
- £48,000 salary, negotiable dependant on experience
- Temporary basis - 1 year, no fixed term.
