Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Kidderminster
Metalis are working with a reputable manufacturing business who are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their foundry maintenance department. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in responding to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and ensuring the overall maintenance of die casting machines, factory machinery, offices, and buildings. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide maintenance support to factory machinery, offices, and buildings, ensuring smooth operations and minimizing downtime.
- Participate in the Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) program to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
- Perform installation work, routine maintenance repairs, and support production supervision to meet production demands by working on equipment as required.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, troubleshoot issues, and complete maintenance tickets upon resolution.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machinery and equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance team members, including the Maintenance Manager and toolmaker, to diagnose and resolve complex machinery malfunctions.
- Analyze work problems, suggest improvements in working conditions, and implement changes to increase efficiency.
- Inspect, test, and maintain machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on the physical structure of the establishment.
- Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment, such as robots or programmable controllers (PLCs).
- Uphold and promote 5S standards to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform daily shift checks and record maintenance activities accurately.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven working experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment (minimum 5 years).
- Mechanical or engineering qualifications are required.
- Proficiency in welding and fabrication techniques.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting (desirable).
- Forklift license (desirable) for equipment handling and movement.
- Experience with maintaining Manufacturing Quality Operating Systems to ensure conformance to customer specifications and resolve quality-related issues.
Salary: £40,322 + £1.14ph shift allowance
Hours: 37.75 hours per week - double days:
-AM - Monday - Thursday - 6am - 2:15pm
-AM - Friday - 6am - 1:15pm
-PM - Monday - Thursday - 2pm - 10:15pm
-PM - Friday - 2pm - 9:15pm
Holiday: 25 days, plus bank holidays
