Job Role: Metrology Engineer
Hours: 37 per week - Mon to Friday
Two shift pattern required
Contract Type: Full time - Permanent
The role of Metrology Engineer is responsible for raising and maintaining calibration standards relating to Aerospace and IGT product manufacture - including routine calibration, CMM programming (optical & touch trigger), FAIR and component measurement to first principles.
AM shift
- Mon - Thurs - 05:45 - 13.45
- Fri - 05:45 - 10.45
PM shift
- Mon - Thurs - 13.45 - 21.45
- Fri - 10.45 - 15.45
Salary Range: £32,000 - £36,000 basic depending on experience (a separate shift premium is also also applicable)

Key Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring Calibration readiness at point of use
- Monitoring and resolving calibration error frequency
- Helping to developing and supporting implementation of NPI project plans
- Undertaking production improvement initiatives
- Providing critical manufacturing support across all areas
- Producing first article inspection reports in conjunction with the quality department
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in the field of dimensional measurement
- Have a practical 'hands on' approach.
- An understanding of CMM operation and programming
- Solid IT skills with 3D CAD experience.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, notes and specifications.
- Excellent 3-Dimensional visualisation.
- Proven mathematical ability.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute in a team environment.
- Ability to work with complexity and achieve goals within challenging deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and take on board new skills.
- Ability to work closely with other areas of the business in an efficient manner.
- To have a structured, methodical approach to all work tasks and proven problem solving skills.
- To be a self-starter, with enthusiasm for the role.
- To have excellent attention to detail and produce neat, precise work.
Advantageous
- Experience of working in aerospace engineering would be beneficial.
