Metalis are currently working with a leading manufacturing company based in Hinckley who are seeking a skilled & experienced Universal Grinder. This is an exceptional opportunity to utilise your expertise in Universal Grinding whilst working in a dynamic and cutting edge sector.
Job Duties:
- Perform universal grinding operations on aerospace components to achieve precise dimensions, surface finish, and geometric tolerances
- Set up and adjust universal grinding machines, including selecting and installing appropriate grinding wheels and work supports
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to ensure accurate grinding processes.
- Monitor and control grinding parameters, such as grinding speed, feed rate, and coolant flow, to achieve desired results.
- Conduct regular inspections and measurements to verify the accuracy and quality of the ground components.
- Make necessary adjustments to the grinding process to maintain optimal performance and meet production targets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve grinding-related issues, such as wheel wear or surface defects
Salary & Hours:
- Salary: £15.91p/h + £2.50 shift allowance on afternoons
- Day shift during probationary period will then move to Afternoon shift
- Position Type: Permanent, Full-time
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Universal Grinder in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the aerospace industry.
- Expertise in universal grinding techniques and principles.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Strong knowledge of universal grinding machine setup and operation.
- Understanding of grinding parameters, coolant usage, and wheel selection for different materials.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and perform accurate inspections.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot grinding-related issues.
- Understanding of safety procedures and adherence to safety regulations.
