Metalis are currently supporting a leading Electromagnetic, Power, and Mechanical Solutions specialist based in Birmingham.

The company has a long trading history and provide their services to the metal processing and recycling industries. With this leadership role, there is an exciting opportunity for personal and professional growth, with the potential to gain ownership or shares in the company!

This is a days regular role, that typically consists of working:

Monday - Thursday: 07.00am - 4.00pm and Friday's: 07.00am - 3.00pm

Position Overview:

With expertise in designing, manufacturing, repairing, refurbishing, and installing electromagnetic drums, as well as providing nationwide high voltage transformer servicing and installations, they are at the forefront of innovative solutions in their field.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Workshop Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will lead a team of 4/5 in a workshop environment, overseeing the production of electromagnetic drums.

The skills used within the workshop include manual machining operations, welding, and fabricating. You will also play a key part in contributing to the success of the companies high voltage transformer servicing and installations division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This is a hands on role leading and motivating a team of 4 skilled engineers in the workshop.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, ensuring high levels of productivity and efficiency.
  • Oversee the production of electromagnetic drums, ensuring high-quality standards and timely delivery.
  • Manage the workshop's manual machines, including millers, lathes, radial drill, welding, and fabricating operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all workshop activities.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of nationwide high voltage transformer servicing and installations.
  • Collaborate with the engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of power solutions for clients.

Skill & Person Requirements:

  • Possess strong mechanical and electrical skills, ideally with experience in metal processing industries.
  • Proficient in the operation of manual machines such as millers, lathes, radial drills.
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic technologies and power solutions is a bonus.
  • Proven experience in a managerial role within a similar industry.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
