Job description

CNC Miller

Location: Sheffield
Salary: Up to £38,000 (depending on experience)
Shifts: Weekly rotating - Earlies and Afternoons
Overtime: Paid at enhanced rates

About the Company:

Metalis are working in partnership with a long-established and respected manufacturing business based in Sheffield. Due to ongoing growth and investment, they are looking to recruit a skilled CNC Miller to join their toolroom team on a full time and permanent basis.

This role would suit someone with a flexible and hands-on approach, who enjoys variety and is confident applying a broad range of skills. No two days are the same, so a proactive attitude and willingness to get stuck in are key.

Shift Pattern:
  • Early Shift: Mon-Thurs 6am-2pm | Fri 6am-1pm
  • Afternoon Shift: Mon-Thurs 2pm-10pm | Fri 1pm-8pm
Role Overview:

This is a varied role within the toolroom, focusing on the manufacture of one-off tooling components, predominantly in mild and tool steel. These tools are used by the production team to create the company's core products.

While most work involves one-offs and small batches, you may occasionally support volume machining during peak periods - such as adding milled features or drilling to production parts.

You'll be working on a wide range of tasks, making it a great opportunity for someone who enjoys challenge and diversity in their role. CNC milling experience is essential, though training can be provided in specific areas for the right person.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating CNC milling machines (Heidenhain controls)
  • Manufacturing new tooling from engineering drawings
  • Manual machining including turning, grinding, and bench fitting
  • Using measuring equipment to maintain tight tolerances
  • Testing and developing tooling prior to production use
  • Supporting press shop operations to resolve tooling issues
  • EDM experience is beneficial - training available if needed
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Proven CNC Milling experience (Heidenhain a plus)
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
  • High attention to detail and a proactive problem-solver
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a team
  • Takes pride in their work and enjoys a hands-on, varied role

If you're a CNC Miller looking for a secure role with variety, good earning potential, and long-term development opportunities - we'd love to hear from you.
