Job Role: Quality Engineer

Hours: 39 per week - Mon to Friday
Mon - Thurs - 08.00 - 16.25
Fri - 08:00 - 15.50

Salary Range: £35,000 - £37,000 depending on experience

Contract Type: Full time - Permanent

Holiday Allowance: Starting 33 days including 7 stats (holiday entitlement increases at 5 and 10 years service)

About the role:

The position will enable the individual to immerse themselves into a team of skilled and experienced Engineers; whilst using their experience to help drive the quality department forward.

This position primarily involves looking after product quality for the company's key customers. Quality Engineer's need to interact between all departments within the facility and exhibit strong customer facing skills. A Quality Engineer should be able to demonstrate real world experience of key skills such as: -

  • Root cause investigations and problem solving
  • Scrap reduction
  • Understanding and implementation of customer requirements/specifications
  • Management of key quality metrics and budgets
  • Good understanding of quality assurance accreditations (NADCAP, AS9100 etc….)
  • Experience of customer and internal audits
  • Project management experience

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Taking ownership for product quality for customers
  • Ensuring timely and accurate disposition of non-conforming product
  • Understanding, owning and adhering to departmental quality targets and budgets
  • Leading and managing key improvement projects within the facility. These may include root cause investigation and corrective action implementation or quality process improvements etc.
  • Developing and implementing new quality monitors and metrics to assist in quality improvements and visual communication
  • Utilising lean tools and techniques to remove waste from the quality departments day to day processes and procedures

Candidate Requirements:

· Essential:

  • Drive, passion, enthusiasm and commitment
  • Previous Quality Engineering/Inspection experience
  • The ability to be flexible and adapt to ever changing situations and requirements
  • Proven problem solving capability.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence others
  • Proven IT skills (specifically MS Excel)
  • A keen interest in manufacturing and precision engineering
  • Ability to work on own initiative whilst contributing in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and desire to develop engineering knowledge
  • Ability to achieve goals within demanding deadlines
  • Ability to work closely with other areas of the business
  • To be a self starter with drive and enthusiasm
  • To have excellent attention to detail and produce quality work within set timeframes
  • To have a structured, method driven and hands on approach to all work tasks

Advantageous:

  • A degree (2.1 or above) or equivalent qualification / experience in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Any previous experience with Minitab software, SAP, Rolls Royce supplier portal, SETP Clear Orbit would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience with aerospace product specifically Rolls-Royce and related quality processes.
  • Good understanding of process capabilities, Gauge R&R studies etc
