Location: Sheffield
Salary: £16.50 per hour (potential for higher based on experience)

Metalis are supporting a well-established machining company based in Sheffield. The company offers diverse capacities including precision CNC machining, Manual Machining, laser cutting, mechanical refurbishment, and assembly.

They serve various sectors as a subcontract specialist, fostering a family-run environment that values flexibility and teamwork.

Role Overview:

Due to an upcoming retirement, we are seeking an experienced Manual Turner to join their skilled team. The role involves working with large components, typically ranging from 1 to 3 metres in diameter and made from various materials.

There will also be opportunities to work on CNC lathes, with training provided for those interested in developing their skills.

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; Friday, early finish at 4:00 PM
Contract: Full-time, 39.5 hours per week

Overtime: Available at enhanced rates (double time Sundays, time and a third midweek, time and a half Saturdays) with early starts when overtime is scheduled

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating manual lathes to produce one-off parts and small batches (typically 1-30 pieces)
  • Manufacturing components that vary from roughing to high-precision parts
  • Supporting other manufacturing cells as required to ensure smooth production flow
  • Handling large components, often requiring the use of overhead cranes
  • Demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting the team and business needs
Person Specification:
  • Experience working with large components and an understanding of manufacturing large parts
  • Comfortable and experienced in using overhead cranes for handling heavy materials
  • Flexible, team-oriented, and willing to chip in wherever needed
  • Good understanding of machining processes, with an eye for quality and accuracy
  • Willingness to learn CNC lathe operations (training provided)
