Location: North Sheffield / South Yorkshire
Salary: £39,500 + Overtime + Travel Time + Allowances
Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Working Hours: Typically Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm (early finish Friday), with occasional weekend work during shutdown periods.

The Opportunity:

We're working with a well-established engineering services provider that specialises in the repair, installation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they're looking to hire a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their experienced team on a permanent basis.

This role offers a mix of workshop-based and site-based work (approx. 40% field based /60% workshop based), covering a wide variety of mechanical engineering projects across industries such as manufacturing, steel, power generation, and heavy engineering.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Mechanical fitting, assembly, and strip-down of equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, and conveyors
• On-site mechanical maintenance, installation, and shutdown work
• Working on both planned and reactive maintenance tasks across customer sites nationwide
• Occasional welding/fabrication work (beneficial, not essential)
• Travelling to client sites (van provided or use of own vehicle if preferred)
• Occasional working away from home, mainly during quarterly shutdowns
• Adhering to health and safety standards and company protocols

What We're Looking For:

• Time-served Mechanical Engineer / Fitter (apprenticeship or equivalent)
• Previous experience in mechanical fitting, ideally within heavy engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environments
• Confident reading technical drawings and using hand/power tools
• Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away if/when required
• Physically fit and comfortable with demanding hands-on work
• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Ability to work well as part of a team during site projects

What's On Offer:

• Basic Salary: £39,500 per annum

• Weekdays & first 4 hours Saturday: £23.50/hour
• Saturday (after 4 hours) & Sunday: £25.50/hour
  
  
• Travel Time Paid: From base to site
• £20 Daily Meal Allowance when working away
