Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established company that operates within a fast-paced production environment.

This role will involve both reactive and planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the efficient operation of machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out reactive maintenance and fault-finding to minimise downtime and ensure production continuity.
  • Perform planned and preventative maintenance, including lubrication, safety checks, and component inspections.
  • Lead and support efficient job changeovers, ensuring they are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure all equipment and machinery is in safe working order following repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain compliance with company health and safety policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including setting procedures and contributing to efficiency projects.
  • Undertake workshop repairs on various mechanical components and mechanisms as needed.
  • Proactively identify and order replacement parts through internal stock systems.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth operations and resolving maintenance issues promptly.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks within skillset to support engineering operations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer with hands-on industry experience.
  • Strong background in mechanical maintenance within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of health and safety within an industrial setting.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and respond effectively to breakdowns.

Desirable:

  • Basic electrical skills (BTEC, City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Experience working on rotating shifts
  • Previous experience with high-temperature, automated, or complex mechanical systems is an advantage.
