Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established company that operates within a fast-paced production environment.
This role will involve both reactive and planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the efficient operation of machinery and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out reactive maintenance and fault-finding to minimise downtime and ensure production continuity.
- Perform planned and preventative maintenance, including lubrication, safety checks, and component inspections.
- Lead and support efficient job changeovers, ensuring they are completed within agreed timescales.
- Ensure all equipment and machinery is in safe working order following repairs or adjustments.
- Maintain compliance with company health and safety policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including setting procedures and contributing to efficiency projects.
- Undertake workshop repairs on various mechanical components and mechanisms as needed.
- Proactively identify and order replacement parts through internal stock systems.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth operations and resolving maintenance issues promptly.
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks within skillset to support engineering operations.
What We're Looking For:
- Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer with hands-on industry experience.
- Strong background in mechanical maintenance within a production or manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of health and safety within an industrial setting.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and respond effectively to breakdowns.
Desirable:
- Basic electrical skills (BTEC, City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Experience working on rotating shifts
- Previous experience with high-temperature, automated, or complex mechanical systems is an advantage.
