Location: Nottingham & Hinckley
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm, Friday 7:30am-12:30pm

About the Role

We're recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineering Manager to lead the Quality and Inspection function across two precision engineering sites in Nottingham and Hinckley.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role with responsibility for quality inspection, assurance, and continuous improvement within a high-precision manufacturing environment. You'll be heavily involved in CMM inspection of complex machined parts and assemblies, managing calibration systems, validating inspection data, and ensuring compliance to ISO standards.

If you enjoy combining practical metrology skills with leadership and process improvement, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a critical quality function in a respected precision engineering business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations within the Quality and Inspection Departments across both sites.
  • Perform and validate CMM inspections on precision components and assemblies.
  • Oversee and maintain calibration systems to ensure accuracy and full traceability.
  • Manage quality documentation including the Quality Manual, ISO procedures, and audit records.
  • Support production teams with non-conformance reports (NCRs), customer complaints, and quality KPIs.
  • Provide coaching, direction, and training to Quality Inspectors to ensure consistent standards.
  • Coordinate internal audits and ensure timely closure of any non-conformances.
  • Support CE and UKCA compliance activities following training.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
  • Provide cover for inspectors and quality engineers when required at both locations.

About You

  • Background in precision engineering, ideally within CNC machining, tooling, or fixturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience with CMMs (programming, operation, and validation).
  • Strong understanding of metrology, GD&T, and inspection methodologies.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001, calibration systems, and quality improvement tools (8D, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, etc.).
  • Confident leading a small team and aligning processes across multiple sites.
  • Analytical, methodical, and driven by continuous improvement.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive £40,000 salary
  • Early Friday finish (12:30pm)
  • Stable, well-established precision engineering business
  • Dual-site role offering variety and responsibility
  • Opportunity to lead and shape the quality function across two key sites

If you're a technically minded quality professional with strong CMM and metrology experience, and you're looking to step up into a leadership role, we'd love to hear from you.
