The Role:
As a Sales Engineer, you will:
- Review and grow existing client relationships, identifying opportunities to increase account value
- Research and target potential new customers in key sectors to generate opportunities for machined components and assemblies
- Prepare quotations for CNC and manual machining work, following up to secure feedback and orders
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to evaluate technical specifications, production capacity, and achievable lead times
- Determine raw material needs and coordinate external supplier pricing through formal quotation requests
- Assess project scope to identify any outsourced processes required (e.g. surface treatments, specialist welding, EDM), obtaining costs and timelines from approved partners
- Collaborate across departments to ensure accurate and timely communication around project requirements
- Ideally, experience in a technical sales or estimating role within precision machining
- Good understanding of CNC/manual turning, milling, boring
- Familiarity with materials such as Inconel, Hastelloy, Super Duplex, and other corrosion-resistant alloys is desirable
- Commercially minded, with strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable interpreting engineering drawings and discussing technical specifications with clients
